Self Care Staycations are a MUST!

I recently had the privilege of staying at Wyndham Orlando Resort I-Drive for a full weekend staycation with my boyfriend and two of our friends. It's been a CHAOTIC summer and I was ready for a full stop weekend of rest, relaxation and self care. This is a truly remarkable resort, nestled right in the heart of iDrive, a short walk to the excitement that is ICON Park, a Orlando staple.
Terrance and I arrived early so we stopped by ICON Park and visited Madame Tussauds Wax Museum for a little fun before everyone got off work and had a delicious lunch at Yardhouse. The Wax Museum was fun, we made our way through the exhibits (mostly me taking photos of Terrance because I've been to the one in Las Vegas) but we had a lot of fun and then made our way over to Yardhouse for lunch. Terrance had the Spicy Jambayla with Jasmine rice, which came with blackened shrimp, andouille sausage, crawfish, chicken and peppers, in a cajun cream sauce. As someone from New Orleans who LOVES jambalaya, he was very impressed with the flavor in this dish. I was craving something a little different so I had the House Cheesesteak and fries. The house cheesesteak came with chopped ribeye, house steak sauce, roasted garlic aioli, and fried onion strings. After our stomachs were full, we headed over to the resort to get checked in for the weekend.

We were immediately impressed with the staffs check in process, friendly demeanor, and ease of getting us checked into our room. A few short details in the front, and we had our keys and were on our way to our room.
Within minutes of getting checked into our beautiful suite, there was a knock at the door, room service brought us a lovely welcome gift, a charcuterie plate & milk and cookies. I'm not sure that words or photos truly express the beauty of this room, or the ACCESIBILITY, which being plus size is a huge bonus for me- from the comfort of the couch, the wide chairs, comfy bed, armless chairs etc...You'll see in a lot of the photos the whole property is really very accessible friendly. Our room was upstairs, and there is not an elevator in the resort, but if you need accessibility to the first floor, you can ask for a first floor room at check in. Watch the full room tour now...
Overall we had a pretty relaxing evening Friday, as the rain was coming down pretty hard, and we waited for our friends to arrive for a full day of fun and sun Saturday! I was grateful to know Wyndham was onboard with us having a few extra friends come hang for a impromptu Curvy Confidence meetup in Orlando by the pool Saturday. If ya'll have been following me for a while you know, I live and breathe in the water and jump at the chance to have a relaxing pool day!
This resort not only has 1 beautiful pool right off to the left of our room, but it has a secondary pool and jacuzzi right beside it- so plenty of room for guests to enjoy! Maura, Monica, Lauren and I enjoyed drinks from the Gator Ville Signature menu (one of the amenities on property) through out the day. I had a cranberry vodka, and strawberry daiquiri myself and LOVED each choice... The resort restaurant offers a morning breakfast buffet for $12-14 that includes a nice array of breakfast selections, and then switches over to a daytime menu, that offers a variety of meals so after a few hours of relaxation by the pool, we had lunch there. After enjoying our meal, we headed back to our rooms to get ready for our 8pm reservation at Sugar Factory at ICON Park. We decided we would put on our best dress and head out for a few hours on iDrive. The convenience of having entertainment and good food right near by, is one of the best perks of the location of this resort but my favorite perk was the pool personally! As we've been trying to be conscious of the delta variant and rise of covid numbers, we didn't spend a lot of time at ICON Park, stopping by the Tin Roof for some quick live music, before heading back to the resort. We really enjoyed every minute of our time at the Wyndham Resort on iDrive and are incredibly grateful for the gifted weekend away.
I sometimes struggle to hit the "pause" button on life, and this resort weekend forced me to relax, enjoy the moment and reset for my own self care needs, while also being able to gift my friends with a lovely weekend away!
